I have had the fortune of visiting this beautiful region on three occasions, 1981, 2004, and 2005. On the 2004 visit I did not bring a camera, which I made up for with a vengeance in 2005! I tend to be more drawn to nature and parks than urban areas, and the photos will reflect this. All images in this gallery were taken on film with my Minolta XG-7 and were scanned with a Konica-Minolta Dimage Dual IV. Technical issues and hindsight concerning these images: 1. These were the very first images scanned on the Dual IV scanner. I had not yet discovered nor learned to deal with the issue of purple cast in deep shadow areas that seems to be universal with all types of negative film both old and new. 2. I had not yet discovered the merits of over-exposing color negative film by app. 1 stop. The result is more grain, especially in skies and shadow areas. Compounding the issue was the fact that the metering system on my 25 year-old XG-7 was beginning to under-expose, compounding the issue. This is most noticeable in wide-angle images. 3. This was my first experience with Fuji NPS160 and NPH400 professional films, used only because I had bought out the local Ritz Camera's supplies of Reala and Ultra Color 100! 4. Some
the images would benefit if they included models! |
